Snippits from a lovely wedding in Alabama.

New Orleans Wedding, October 2014

Saturday, December 13, 2014

It's been a while since I've posted, honestly life/work has been crazy. I've been wanting to write about it for a bit, but honestly don't know how to summarize the plethora of situations.  So I think I'll try and do more fun stuff.

I’ve been the second shooter on weddings for a while now, and have a million pictures just hanging out, so I think i’ll be going through some of them for a bit. No faces or anything, since it’s not my contract, but just some pretties. Work is sucking my soul and I want to do some mindlessly fun photo play. Maybe ill even pick up my real camera and order new darkroom chemicals. I miss getting my hands dirty.

Morning shadows.

Things have been weird.
I've been so uninspired.
Work is crazy, and going through some big changes.
I'm super broke saving for my best friend's wedding.

Everything will mellow out, it just a weird time. I need to start creating again.

Bachelorette karaoke.

Thursday, April 24, 2014

Oh man. Last night was my good friend Amanda's bachelorette party and things got beautifully silly. We had a great group of gals and went through MANY bottles of wine. I sang my first karaoke (Maxwells Silver Hammer by The Beatles, because nothing says party like a song about murder). My head doesn't thank me today, but it was an absolute blast.

Amanda got a magnificent crown of male genitalia complete with a pornographic bouquet.

I tried on the work of art. It had birds, sparklers, and was made from the cardboard from a sausage package. Amazing.

Oh, what a night.

Ramble on.

Happy Wednesday. Time for a series of short sentences.

The weather is beautiful. I've had Bike Shop two days in a row. It's my good friend Amanda's bachelorette party tonight. I took tomorrow off so I can work on a book commission. Both my grandmothers text now, and their messages are adorable.

I'm currently watching the front desk for the receptionist and there is a sweet elderly couple having a picnic.

Nothing but good things are surrounding me.

swish.

Currently oil pulling.
Like, it's swishing around in my mouth right now.
20 minutes is a long time.

DATE NIGHT.

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

We finally got to see Grand Budapest Hotel! After dinner at the Bike Shop, we got fabulous margaritas (honey rosemary AND strawberry basil, yuuuuuum!) to-go, snagged the recliners at the Crescent, and plopped to enjoy a much needed Wes Anderson flick.

blurs and fleurs

Thursday, April 03, 2014

I love spring (minus the allergies).
HEART SHAPED FLOWER.
Sad note, I think I need my eyes checked, I'm having trouble seeing if an image is in focus.

Is this getting old?!

 So busy.
Sometimes I miss school. Sometimes I miss scanning my cat for projects.

I absolutely love these Bismuth Sculptures by Chris Ritson. I've never seen anything quite like them.

The (amazing) description on his website reads:
"Bismuth is an archival element, that under specific, synthetic conditions crystalizes into a distinct hopper shaped crystal form. This crystalline structure of multicolored lattice of cubes within cubes is utilized to simulate the Tesseract, a 4th Dimensional cube. Imagine the Tesseract is to the cube as the cube is to the square. In our thoughts, as well as dreams, we construct a reality within countless imperceivable dimensions, and the realm of the Tesseract is the first that evades our five senses. As artwork is meant to herald a great movement in the viewer into unknown lands of experience, these works are manifestations of the great mythic beacons of ineffable transmissions: Immortal Gods plucked form our literary tradition, all linked to the bridge that connects humans to the imperceivable truths beyond the body."

What are my animals doing, right meow?

Sunday, March 09, 2014

Thats a good question. Lets investigate:

Gunner was all stretched out in his bed, being adorable....

....then he got all mad that i was taking pictures of him, stretched out of his bed and folded his baby angel legs like a lady.

then Key demanded water from the tub, the only place she will drink.

Animal update, complete.

Still avoiding dishes.

Sunday, March 09, 2014

I'm going through the wedding pictures from yesterday, and remembering how amazing the architecture was. Eep. I'll have to post some later.
before i even got to the wedding; Joelle's (the lovely photographer i assisted) stairs.

stereotypical, but obligatory picture of beautiful rug and my fancy new shoes.

Sunday SlarmFest.

Sunday, March 09, 2014

Today has been the laziest of days. Both me and Skodapop were exhausted from shooting all day weddings yesterday, so today we slept in 'til noon, ate lunch in bed, then took a nap. Now I'm up, avoiding the dishes, whilst Skoda and Gunner are dreaming of grilled cheese (probably). It's been a nice day. I can't believe our anniversary is this week. Four fantastic years of awesome. Time flies.

my budding salt and pepper shaker collection distracting me from dish mountain.

This little piggy went to market.

Note to self. Wear nothing but extremely comfortable and FLAT shoes when shooting a wedding. Although your wedges are comfy, and you feel as if you can run many a mile in them, the moment you take them off your toes are going to swell like sausages and you're gonna walk like a duck. I love you, self, but you're a big ole dummy sometimes.

Speaking of sausages, the wedding was German/American, and the German side had the neatest traditions! One of them was called a 'program', which was basically an hour and a half of the bride and groom's friends and family dedicating them skits, songs, dances, speeches, and lessons on how to be a German wife (which apparently entails making lots of sausage). It was something else! The whole thing was so lively and personal, I absolutely loved it. I can't wait to go through the photos!

Good feelings.

Through out the hectic day that is today, I keep floating back to the perfection of last night.

Our show had ended, and the television went dark.
We were so comfortable, nobody moved to change it.
It was raining outside, and the lights strung above our bed were softly glowing.
You were absentmindedly rubbing my calves, and I was stroking your chest.
We were silent.
I could tell the exact moment you fell asleep.
Your hand slowly stilled and your breathing grew heavier.
And there I stayed.
Motionless.
Increasingly thankful for the movement of your chest.
Knowing that each rise and fall meant that you were still there.

It was such a perfect moment. The rain. The light. The love.

I'm so thankful to be alive.
I'm so thankful you're alive.
I'm so thankful to have each other.

I don't want to forget.

Joe Cain.

Sunday, March 02, 2014

Joe Cain Day! This is the first parade or anything Mardi Gras related this season, besides the ball I attended last week. Mardi Gras isn't really my scene. It's fun, but in my old age I have really grown to hate being jostled and touched by strangers. Mardi Gras can get crazy, I've seen grown men punch each other in the face over a stuffed animal. All that aside, today was nice. Perfect weather, and we found some seats outside of an eatery on the parade route. I actually got a picture of me and my dude, which is a rare and beautiful thing.

After that, I zipped over to an Oscar Party at my families house. Cassie always does the best themed parties, and this time didn't disappoint with awesome food, beverage, decorations, and Oscar Bingo.

Now, I just got home and swarmed by animals. Life is good.

All of the lights.

Saturday, March 01, 2014

I ordered these Fairy lights a while ago off of Amazon, and I've been waiting for the platform bed we ordered to get here to hang them above it. I can't wait anymore! I'm about to get started.

Gunner was SUPER intrigued with these lights. It's funny, he usually hates lights; he fusses at me every time I turn on my make-up mirror and absolutely despises camera flashes. He kinda just wanted to rub all over these. He's a big ole weirdo.

Eeeeeep, online shopping, you got me again. The Urban Outfitters Sale section tends to catch my eye quite often, and this time it really paid off! I've been searching for bedroom curtains for ermmm, a year and a half? It's been a while. I've been looking for something semi neutral, with some sort of pattern, in gray, and NOT too expensive - and it's proven a challenge. These bad boys were 12.99 a panel! Score. While I was there, I stumbled across this fancy, schmancy little wallet for 4.99. My current wallet is falling apart, and I feel like this one will be super easy to find in my purse. Even though I always wear a tiny purse, my wallet proves impossible to snag in a hurry. Last, but not least, I'm a sucker for a moon print, and this lunar calendar does it for me. I have the perfect place for it, over Skodapops desk. Things are finally starting to come together around the apartment. It really takes forever for me to decorate, I'm incredibly indecisive. My poor roommates.

Annnnd my shoes should come this week! I ordered them a while ago, majorly on sale, and they are FINALLY on the way! It's going to be a good mail week.

Having a paid day off to stay at home with my boyfriend, watch movies, and make pancakes? WHY YES PLEASE. Thank you, Mother Nature.

These two.

These guys. I put clothes on Gunner. Everyone hates it. It's hilarious. Happy New Years. Life is good.
